Should I use a clay mask before or after a shower? by Silence Last Updated April 21, 2020 Silence Posted on March 5, 2020 Silence Taking care of your skin is an important part of practicing your own love. To pamper yourself redoes your brain to feel more important and loved and increases our self-esteem. The best way to make your skin care routine as effective as possible is not by increasing the number of products you use daily, but by playing smart and understanding science behind how and why a particular product works and how you can make the most of it. This way you can find out exactly what your skin needs and how you can get the best use of your favorite products. At a glance, FAQ: Will a shower open my pores? Incorrect, that's just a myth. Sadly, a pore is only a part of the anatomy of your skin, there is no effective way to physically change its size. The pores do not respond to warmth or cold in the way they led us to believe. So it's a waste of time? No way, the steam on your face still has many benefits. It helps in hydration and increases the absorption of other products. It also softens the obstruction of your pores and makes them easier to clean. Should I apply mask before or after the shower? Since the skin is extra soft and accepting after a shower, it is the perfect time for your clay mask to work its magic. The smoothed debris will be clarified more easily. A clay mask is better after a shower. When it comes to face clay masks there are a very few ways that it can really go wrong. It is such a forgiving product that there is a very low possibility that will cause you any damage used in any way. But there are certain very convenient ways that you can get much more extraordinary benefits out of your clay. Applying these methods will ensure that your skin care game is extra strong and you are getting 100% worth your money and time. A very important question most clay users both old and new have in mind that is the best time to use a clay mask? What happens to my pores when I take a shower? My pores open? I used to believe in the old methods we usually notice in salons if we're going to make some facial. Those ladies will often vaporize our faces before cleaning and then put the mask on. In my mind, it made sense. We all know that heat expands and cold contracts. So, perhaps the purpose of hot steam is to "open" my pores and then other products will find it easier to work within them? It sounded very convincing. But as it turns out, Myth: Your pores are not "open and near"Myth: Your pores are not "open and near"Yes, it has been a lie all those years. For years something so obvious in my head was far from reality. According to , facial pores cannot be "open" by steam, warm water or something. There are no muscles surrounding the pore that can stretch it open with heat. Another common question is "how do you close your pores after a hot shower?" Same thing! Lie down that they don't open, your pores don't close. The term "open pore" is only a pseudonym. It is actually an enlarged pore that appears this way due to accumulation and oil. If all this is news to you, read more about another myth. Is my face still good for my pores? The shower steam is still beneficial. The heat helps loosen the rubble inside our pores that then becomes easier to clean. The vapor of the surface layer and increases the absorption of any product that is applied in it. Heat and heat of the shower also increases blood circulation in the face, this brings more nutrients, cleanses dead cells and promotes the healing process. So, steam is really very beneficial to our pores, just not the way I thought it was. Should I wash my face before or after a shower? Keeping your face clean with a good facial wash is a basic step to maintain personal hygiene. Prevents the growth of bacteria and eliminates all the dirt and smoke that we are exposed daily. Normally a simple facial wash is only used for surface cleaning. He won't clean his black heads or avoid acne in most cases. But a hot shower can help wash your face to be much more effective. As the steam softens the impacted dirt and accumulation on the face, it becomes much easier to clean. It goes without saying (I hope) that you should always clean your skin before applying a facial mask. What about clay masks? Should I wear my clay mask before or after a shower? The question remains, if a shower has no effect on opening or closing the pores then why does it matter if we use our clay masks before or after the shower. A hot shower, like sitting in a sauna, and also increases the hydration of our higher layer more. It makes the skin more permeable and accepts any product we use in our face. So yes! That makes after a shower a good time to take out our face clay masks. The skin of the soft post shower is in perfect condition to absorb all the nutrients and minerals. The loosened dirt and the fat inside the pores will expect it to clear without any trace and stay with an incredibly clean and clear skin. If you are looking for a natural facial mask, here are a couple of my go-to face mask recipes: – I have created a clay mask assortment package, which has 4 popular clay types so you can try them all! Includes bentonite clay, rhassoul clay, French green clay and kaolin clay.4 Errors you are probably doing in the shower A hot bath or shower is that relaxing part of your routine when you have the time and privacy to pamper yourself. Unlock your muscles, get those exfoliators out and discover the whole day off. Be careful to avoid some mistakes especially if you are prone to dating. These include:1. Error #1: Water temperature on the extreme side. Too cold or too hot water can damage your skin and hair. Make sure the water is a bit on the warmest side.2. Error #2: Hard exfoliators. Your exfoliators should not punish your skin, hard scrubs can cause micro abrasions on your skin and may result in outbreaks. You should also not be exfoliating only 1 to 2 times a week, not daily.3. Error #3: Get rid of chemicals. Try to use shampoo and conditioners that are free of parabens, sulfates and other aggressive chemicals. Not only do they dry their hair but also affect their skin.4. Error #4: Undo the loofah. Replace your loofs regularly. If you use one for a longer time, it will become a growing field for bacteria that are obviously bad news for your skin. Try this instead. A good hot bath at night is the best way to relax all day. It is also the perfect time to clean and detoxify the skin, unwrap those pores and be ready for a relaxing night sleep. A clay mask after the shower will effectively clean the entire gunk from your skin and along with the hardening effect will make your pores look smaller and cleaner. 5 things you're probably doing wrong in the shower seems pretty straight, right? Turn on the water, enter the stable, wash the body, rinse the soap and then dry the towel. But it turns out that we're all probably doing careless things that are harmful to our skin. After fighting with severe dry and scaly skin outbreaks this winter, we ask Dr. Heather Woolery-Lloyd, skin care co-founder, and , the director of laser and cosmetic dermatology at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City, to break down the five most common shower errors. 1. You're taking long and hot showers. Sure, a steam shower is a way to get warm in the cold mornings or relax after a stressful day of work, but it's not good for your skin. Period. According to Dr. Woolery-Lloyd, long and hot showers throw the skin off their natural oils and can. "They can also increase the widespread itching even in people who do not have eczema," he says. For the healthiest skin, Dr. Woolery-Lloyd recommends keeping the shower short and warm or tepid (not hot). But if you think changing the full cold shower dial is better, think again. "The only benefit for a cold rinse is for the person who rubs [the skin becomes red] of warm water," says Dr. Waldorf. "The cold will help close the vessels that are dilated with heat. Otherwise, there is no benefit for the skin barrier with a fresh or cold rinse. "2. You are using shower gels and body washes with excessive foam. The more bubbles or cleaners you have, the more you strip your skin from your natural oils, Dr. Woolery-Lloyd. "The soap ingredient that does this is called surfactant. They are chemicals that attract both oil and water," he explains. "When combined with water, surfactants can bind oil and remove these natural oils from our skin." So the shower consisting of cleaners containing strong surfactants can result in dry and rough skin. When patients visit Dr. Woolery-Lloyd's office and complain about dry skin, itching, one of the first things they ask is their soap. "Often, simply changing a cleaner dramatically improves your symptoms," he says. Dr. Waldorf believes that Dove and Olay make excellent body wash products that scratch less lipids and skin proteins and leave the skin better hydrated than most others. "However, the -- which is a -- is better than standard commercial liquid washes. Unless you have a specific dermatological need, there is no reason to use an antibacterial wash on the bar or liquid form for your skin daily," he adds.3. You're not rinsing soap completely out of your body. Get out of the shower and see a yarn of soap bubbles along the back of the neck almost all the time. And if you're like us, you'll probably clean it while you're staying. However, both dermatologists warn that not rinsing the soap correctly can cause skin irritation and dryness. But it really depends on what kind of soap you're using, according to Dr. Woolery-Lloyd. "Mesh cleaners, if left on the skin, may be irritating because of the chemicals and fragrance that these soap contain. Instead, there are many soft cleaners that are designed not to be rinsed completely because they contain additional moisturizers to help restore the skin barrier after cleaning," he says. You're applying deep pore facial masks after showering. Many people choose to completely clean their faces in the shower and then apply a facial mask afterwards. But it's time we set the record at the moment. Dr. Woolery-Lloyd tells us that "the masks must be applied before washing the face. Washing before and after a mask can be too dry for many types of skin." And Dr. Waldorf signs this, saying, "All you apply after a shower will be absorbed faster, so you can get more irritation. The most important product after the shower is something moisturizing and occlusive to add again and seal in moisture. "5. You're rude with towel instead of making a sweet. We are usually intensely breathing after taking a shower, especially during the cold months of time. And even though we all want to clean fast and dress as soon as possible, how you're going to dry is as important as how you bathe. Stop, kick your skin with a towel. Since the water evaporates quickly after a shower or a bath, leaving the skin dry, Dr. Waldorf highlights the importance of hydrating after bathing. "Immediately applying a lotion or cream to arms, legs and any other part of the body that tends to dry," he says. You wash your face properly? Do you want more HuffPost Style beauty content?
