Acacia Galpinii Bonsai | Bonsai tree, Bonsai forest, Bonsai soilLog inWater (Acacia) The cowgirl is a great genus of more than 1200 species, many of which are suitable for bonsai. They are green trees or broad leaf bushes with pine leaves composed in most cases. Some species have flattened the leaves (competitions), known as phyllodes, which serve the purpose of the leaves. The small perfumed flowers have the shape of pompons or panics and their color is usually between yellow and white, some cultivars may have pink flowers. They produce a lot of pollen and attract insects, especially bees. As Acacia belongs to the family of legumes, it has typical long and narrow seed capsules. The bark is gray to light brown and deeply enraged with age. Some pot species have sharp thorns. The pots grow in tropical and subtropical regions of Africa, Australia and Central America and are not tolerant of frosts. During the draughts some wattles spilled their leaves. Acacia can become very attractive bonsai trees, but it is necessary to control its strong growth. If you need help identifying your tree, try our guide. Bonsai specific care guides for Acacia BonsaiPlacement tree: Acacia needs a sunny and airy warm place during the growing season. In hot and dry climates the bonsai of the bottle in small pots should be protected from the hot afternoon sun in summer. In the regions with cold winters, the cowgirl needs a place inside the house or in a heated greenhouse, with temperatures between 12 and 20° C (53 – 68°F). If enough light and humidity are provided, warm temperatures are fine, otherwise better keep trees in a cooler place. Water: Always keep the rootball faucet and never let it dry completely, but at the same time take care not to overwater the tree, which would be so bad. Avoid watering with calcareous water. Fertilization: Apply solid organic fertilizer every four weeks or use a liquid fertilizer every two weeks during the crop season. Avoid the fertilizers that are high in nitrogen, because they can cause long internudes. Nodule bacteria in the root system help the tree absorb nitrogen in a very efficient way. In winter, if the tree stays in a cooler place (about 12° C or 53° F) and does not show much growth, fertilize only once a month with liquid fertilizer. Pruning and wiring: Acacia bonsai can grow very fast and it is advisable to crop trees regularly, to develop a pleasant branching. In spring and summer, new shoots are shortened, leaving only one or two leaves. The heavy pruning must be done in winter, leaving problems due to possible death. Problems can be removed next time, when dry. Use cut paste to protect cut wounds. The bottles can be defoiled at the end of spring. The wiring can be done better after defoliation, when there are no leaves in the tree. The older branches are quite fragile, but the younger branches are flexible and can be easily configured. Use aluminum wire and take care not to damage the bark. Uncle wires can be a good choice. Repotting: Replenish the Bonsai tree from the wave every two to three years and larger specimens every three or four years early in spring. Do not pode the roots too heavily and take care not to remove the root nodules that are important to absorb nitrogen. Use a well-rolled soil mixture with sufficient humus content. Propagation: The wax tree can spread from seed or cuts. Seeds have a hard coat and cannot germinate without scarification. Weights and diseases: Normally, vigorous trees of the wave are barely attacked by pests and diseases. Flemishes and scale may bother acacias if they are weakened by incorrect position and care, then use a specific pesticide and improve the growth conditions for your tree. The root rot may occur when the tree is overloaded. For more detailed information on these techniques, try our section. Photo source: Heike van Gunst An Acacia Bonsai tree A tree of Bonsai Acacia.
